Hyundai Creta clocks 54,000 bookings in justs two months

Priced between Rs 8.59 lakh and Rs 13.60 lakh (both are ex-showroom, Delhi), the Hyundai Creta is offered with one petrol and two diesel engines.

The Hyundai Creta is turning out to be a runaway success for the Korean auto brand in India. In just over two months after its launch here, Hyundai’s latest offering in the compact SUV segment is raking sales figures like never seen before in the segment. To give you an idea on how popular the Creta is among Indians, Hyundai has reportedly received over 54,000 bookings for the car thus far, resulting in a waiting period of 4 to 6 months.

Given the value the Hyundai Creta offers as a car, it was only inevitable that it will do well over here. It looks premium on the inside-out; there’s a long list of features and equipment available on the car and it comes with a range of fuel-efficient and powerful diesel and petrol powertrains to choose from.
While the market already had established players such as the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, etc, the Hyundai Creta blew its rivals out of the water immediately after its launch; its monthly sales performance reflects the same. Forget beating its direct rivals, the Creta has in fact toppled the Mahindra Bolero, which is cheaper and belong to an entirely different segment, to become the best-selling SUV in the Indian market at the moment.

Priced between Rs 8.59 lakh and Rs 13.60 lakh (both are ex-showroom, Delhi), the Hyundai Creta is offered with one petrol and two diesel engines. The petrol motor is a 1.6-litre VTVT unit developing 123PS of maximum power output and 154Nm of peak-torque. The 1.4-litre diesel mill is rated at 90PS and 224Nm. The range topping 1.6-litre diesel develops 128PS of power and 265Nm of peak torque. All the engines come paired with a six-speed manual transmission, although the 1.6-litre diesel can also be had with a 6-speed automatic.

The ARAI certified fuel economy of the 1.6-litre petrol and the 1.4-litre diesel are 15.29km/l and 21.38 km/l, respectively. The 1.6-litre diesel has a claimed fuel economy of 19.67km/l for manual and 17.01km/l for automatic.

Seeing the increased footfalls for the Creta at the company’s dealerships across India, Hyundai has also ramped up the vehicle’s monthly production to 6,500 units from 5,000 units during the first two months of production. However, even that is going to be of little help since the festivities are already in sight and customer sentiments will be higher than ever.
