Hyundai Motor India strikes gold in 8th National Cluster Summit

Hyundai Motor India Limited, the largest passenger car exporter and the second largest car manufacturer in India has struck gold in the recently concluded 8th Edition of National Cluster Summit 2015 organized by CII at New Delhi held on 23rd and 24th Nov 2015. HMIL has won the 1st prize in Quality category for its project on ‘E-Coat 7th Generation’ and 2nd prize in Green manufacturing for its award winning ‘RTO project’ (Regenerative Thermal Oxidation). HMIL also emerged as the top case study contributor in the 2015 edition which aims to maximize manufacturing competitiveness. Their projects were selected from amongst 150 entries.


An annual event by CII, this summit is much awaited by manufacturers (small, medium and large) to exchange ideas and learn from each other on the latest trends in energy conservation through automation and technology. It serves as a rich platform to promote, discuss and share ideas on this subject. This year’s theme was “Build SME Competitiveness: Invest in Clusters”.

Manufacturers are awarded in categories like Productivity, Quality, ‘Energy and Cost’, Total Employee Involvement, Green Manufacturing and Productivity, Quality, Cost, Delivery, ‘5S, Safety and Morale’ and Environment. HMIL won in the large industries category. This award further underscores HMIL’s highly recognized environment friendly initiatives in manufacturing and it’s strong focus on resource conservation while improving quality and efficiency. HMIL prides itself on not only making world class products but deploying eco-friendly practices in manufacturing them. The factory premises at Sriperumbudur near Chennai is home to several environmental initiatives such as not discharging any water and recycling it 100%, rain water harvesting ponds with a catchment of 2.75 lakh kilo litres of rain water, aiming to reduce energy consumption per car by 3-4% annually, being a few.

Car CC: A deciding factor before you buy one!

What does it exactly mean when we say that Hyundai Grand i10 has a 1200cc engine? How does it matter? Why do people keep referring to cc (cubic centimeters) while looking for good vehicles? Does more CC means more consumption? Does it have more impact in engine power? Let’s unfold all the questions one by one..........

Since ‘cc’ stands for cubic centimeters, everyone regards it to be the volume of cylinder. But the fact is it is the Displacement volume of a cylinder. In other words it measures how much the engine displays power. It does not include the clearance volume or the volume of the combustion chamber. The cylinder volume for a single cylinder engine is higher than the 'cc' of the engine.

Exquisite Getaways with Hyundai

 

Goa has meant many things to me over the years and surprisingly it still keeps me coming back for more. As I was growing up I remember my first proper vacation to the seaside town with my family. We visited churches, ate delicious sea food and roamed the local markets. Then in my teens I returned with my friends on week long vacations in the summer months, soaking up the sun and returning home with empty pockets and three shades darker than when we left. Later on it became the place to bring in the New Year and I began to explore life after the sun went down - eventually waking up around sunset and after a hard night of partying only falling asleep after sunrise Nowadays, I find myself looking to find new ways to enjoy this beautiful little seaside paradise.

This time around I aim to just kick back and relax without a care in the world. Having done it all before I'm in no hurry to do anything for two days. So one Saturday morning we loaded up the new Hyundai 4S Fluidic Verna with our bags and headed for the coast with absolutely no plan at all. We decided to take the route via NH-4 and only turning off at Belgaum rather than the more popular route via Kolhapur. Post Belgaum you're treated to some nice winding roads that twist and turn through the outskirts of the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary. Here the Verna was a delight to drive with its good ride quality and agile handling shining through. 

On Sunday we headed straight to the beach to spend a day watching the waves. We picked a beach that was far from the touristy crowd and has a great little beach shack that considers us regulars and settled down for the long haul We sunbathed a little, read a good book and then had a quick swim in the cool waters. And eventually we realized that between the frequent refreshing drinks, constant flow of snacks and the power naps after, we had spent the better part of a day by the beach. And that, in my books, is the perfect way to spend a vacation in Goa. We were relaxed, rejuvenated and completely ready to head back to work to make some more dough to spend on-another fabulous vacation in the sun.
