The Hyundai Xcent is aimed at younger customers, one who travels with his family. Not just is it comfortable for 5 people but it also has a massive boot space of 407 litres. The boot space of the Xcent is big enough to fit luggage of the whole family. Not only this, the Xcent has the largest boot space capacity in the entry-level sedan segment. It wins from the Honda Amaze too as the boot space capacity fo the Amaze is at 400 litres.
The smart key is available in the SX (O) variant of the Hyundai Xcent. With the smart key, the car unlocks itself by simply soft pressing the small black button on the front door handles. The smart key is a part of a system that uses microchips and sensors to unlock the car once the key is in rage, without the push of a button. It enables you to get inside the vehicle without turning a key. You can also start the ignition even if the key is in your pocket or purse or kept in the glove box.
3. Push Button Start
Push button start is increasingly becoming Hyundai’s favourite feature. Push Button start/stop system works with the smart key feature. With a one touch press you can start and stop your car without a key. The SX(O) variant of the Hyundai Xcent does not even have a key entry slot for ignition start. The smart key and push button start are also anti-theft features as the car cannot be started without a smart key and no one can duplicate a smart key.
4. 2 din audio with 1 GB memory
Hyundai’s Xcent is the first car in its segment to come with internal memory in its stereo that is capable of storing up to 1GB of music. This does away with the hassle of having forgotten your pen drive. To further convenience, the Xcent also gets steering mounted audio controls. Its also worth noting that the double din stereo is available from the mid S variant. The stereo also offers CD player, USB and Aux port. The system is connected to four speakers.
5. Bluetooth phone connectivity
The stereo of the Hyundai Xcent comes with Bluetooth which allows you to connect your phone and make calls while on the go. The controls of the Bluetooth are also given on the steering wheel. Bluetooth phone connectivity is available from the S variant onwards. Hyundai Xcent is the first in it’s segment to provide Bluetooth connectivity to customers. Other players like the Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Dzire do not offer this feature.
6. Cooled Glove Box
During the notorious summer months we have in the country, a cooled glove box surely keeps your soft drinks and water bottles, well, chilled on the move!
7. Parking sensors/Rear Camera with ECM display
Rear camera with ECM display enables the driver to see what’s behind the car on the screen (or in this case on the rear view mirror). Hyundai Xcent is equipped with camera at the rear sides that point out object/obstructions around the car and display the distance from it on the screen. This is a feature that comes very handy while parking in crowded city areas.
8. Rear A/C Vent
The Hyundai Xcent is the first in its segment to come with rear A/c vents. Rear A/c vents are a very convenient feature given the kind of climate we see. The rear vents also double as heater in winters.
9. Rear Power Outlet
Hyundai Xcent offers rear power outlet in the A/c unit as well which is, again, a segment first feature. Rear power outlets are useful on long drives when the car is houseful and everybody owns a smart phone. You can charge your laptop, phone and other devices sitting at the back without bothering the front passengers. There is a different power outlet for the front row passengers.
10. Auto Folding Mirrors
Auto folding side view mirrors come with the Hyundai Xcent. The outside mirrors automatically fold when the car is locked and open when it’s unlocked. This feature is again a segment first feature. One can also fold them with a flick of a switch while parking into tight spots!
